Ain't Too Proud

Ugh, no. Either the story of the Temptations has no drama in it or Dominique Morriseau didn’t manage to find it. It’s somewhat impressive how much narration she managed to get into the rush from song to song, but it’s still no better than a bloated concert. The sound is oddly pit-heavy (especially for a show celebrating a singing group) and the vocals are diffuse and muddled. And that’s even before considering how it plays onstage. I kept thinking it was like a Seth MacFarlane cartoon about the Temptations. Now good luck getting that image out of your head.
